In 1983 the former King of Italy and claimant king of Jerusalem, the head of the royal House of Savoy died.
In his last will and testament he officially transfered custodial stewardship of the Shroud of Turin to the Pope and his successors, thus ending private ownership of the foundational archeological relic of Christianity.
The Silent Gospel - History of the Shroud of Turin, is a docudrama script that tells the story of Shroud in the context of its position in an epic age old struggle between two giant forces that come to sculpt Western culture.
In the beginning there were many forms of Christianity, and 5 main fingers governing the Christian movement. Those centers by the third century were in Jerusalem, Alexandria, Antioch, Constantinople and Roman. Each wing preached their unique version with the Greek version centered in Constantinople holding the most power and influence due to it being the seat of the Emperor and governance for the Roman Empire.
This radically shifted in 1204 with the Fourth Crusade and the sacking of the Christian world capital by latin armies. It was one of the most complete and destructive sacking by an army the world had seen since the fall of Jerusalem in 68 AD. This was the great and final schism between the Greek and Latin sects of Christianity and the official starting of an epic struggle over truth that lasts to the present. What lays at the heart of that battle is encoded into the wordless testament known by the elite at the Silent Gospel; the burial shroud today house in a chapel in Turin, Italy.
When it was secreted away during the sacking of the capital a war was begun, a war that appears to be shifting at this time in history.
Prior to this date, the Roman Catholic Church suppressed its competition by proclamations of heresy, ecclesiastical proscription or imprisonment, but rarely resorting to torture or executions as a form of punishment. After all this is what Rome did to its believes early in its history. This view was changing at this period, a time when the first multinational organization was at its peak of power and influence. This organization today is simply called the Templar’s.
The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon began activity by 1119 but was only endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church in 1129.
To describe this organization as any one thing is a simplification with broad inherent dangers. This highly hierarchical organization had many levels of operation, which can be broadly defined as the four pillars; spiritual, political, military and business. It was chartered as a spiritual organization with a military policing mandate but it rapidly morphed. On the business side it was a diverse multinational with massive landholdings, divided into banking, insurance, transportation, and commodities divisions. Politically is had relationships with all the wealthy and royal houses and their adversaries.
As such it developed a broad underground network of spies and safe houses to for fill its obligations. As such it developed some of the most secure encryption methodologies as well as recognition rituals.
It not only loaned sovereigns needed cash, it also insured transported goods and information. It did this all with the largest navy and some of the most secure structures of its day. It became a state within a state with its own standing army and navy. It’s growing power and wealth began to make it a target.
Between 1184 and 1230 a form of ecclesiastical tribunals, historically seen as expurgation movements against heresy was orchestrated by the Roman Catholic Church, specifically the Pope and the Prefect of the Curia.
In short they it was an institutionalized method to consolidate wealth and power by the Roman Catholic Church.
It truly began in ernest close to home in what is today southern france and northern Italy. It centered on the spiritual movements called the Cathars and Waldensians. Their extreme success prompted others to follow throughout Europe.
The legal basis for some inquisitorial activity came from Pope Innocent IV papal bull, Ad exstirpanda, of 1252. He authorized and outlined the use of torture in investigating heresy, there by institutionalizing it to this day.
By 1300 the system was getting well honed. This institution of the Roman Catholic Church was used extensively to dismember and dismantle the Templars 1307-1314.
It forced this massive organization to restructure, resulting it the secret societies of a select grow of royals, with a new mandate and sets of goals.
One was to diminish the temporal power of the Roman Catholic Church and to castrate the curia of its power, the Inquisition.
The elite of the Templar organization from the begin has always been those of a specific lineage of Franks which became the Merovingian Dynasty and later Burgundian ruling lineage. This later lineage was to produce the longest ruling royal house ever to grace the planet, the House of Savoy. This royal house gained considerable prestige and power when it became the stewards in charge of the protection of the burial shroud of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The hands directing the Secret Societies of the royal houses, fellowships originating with the leadership of the Templars and before them the And the curia of Roman Catholic Church specifically the Pope and the Prefect that governed the Holy Office of the Inquisition.
Later named the “Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office" only to turn into the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 1965. The name and office continues to this very day.
Historical documents show that on 20 June, 1353, Geoffroy de Charny, Lord of Savoisy and Lirey, nephew of the leader burnt alive at the stake next to the last Templar Grandmaster, founded at Lirey in honor of the Annunciation, a collegiate church with six canonries, and in this church he exposed for veneration the Holy Winding Sheet we today call the Shroud of Turin. In 1418 during the civil wars, the granddaughter of Geoffrey, Margaret de Charny brought the Shroud to Humbert, Count de La Roche, Lord of Lirey due to marriage. Later Margaret de Charny, widow of Humbert being childless, transferred it to the Duke of Savoy, the year was 1452. It has remained in this ruling families hands until the 1983 transfer to the papacy.
Why? Why after all these many years give this holiest of relics to your sworn archenemy?
Documents and history also record an age old struggle between these two organized forces, ending in the 1929 creation of the Vatican State making it for the first time subject to international law and the expelling of the male heirs of the house of Savoy from Italy written into the Italian Constitution in 1947. The 1947 constitution of the Italian Republic barred all male heirs to the defunct Italian throne from setting foot on Italian soil again in life or death. Female members of the Savoy family were not barred except consort queens.
No representative of the Italian government attended his funeral at his death in Geneva. The 980-year reign of the royal house of Savoy ended with its last leader's death, March 18, 1983.
Coincidently this date of March 18 was the same date as the burning alive of
Geoffrey de Charney, the Preceptor of Normandy and leader of the Knights Templar was burned alive along with its Grandmaster Jacques de Molay in 1314.
As well it was the first official day of the the Kingdom of Italy (1861-1946) this royal house created, later to become the modern day Republic of Italy.
